La actriz Frances McDormand ganó el Oscar como mejor actriz por su participación en la película «Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri» y ocurrió que, durante la fiesta luego de la premiación, la estatuilla desapareció.
Aunque la buscaron desesperadamente, ella y su esposo Joel Coen, no pudieron encontrarla.
Más tarde, un individuo de nombre Terry Bryant publicó un video en YouTube donde presumía que había ganado el premio y exigía a la gente que lo felicitaran. Cuando trató de salir de la fiesta con éste, fue detenido por un fotógrafo.
Aunque Frances McDormand fue vista fuera del local, llorando desesperada, fuentes del medio informaron que poco después le fue devuelto el premio a la actriz.
