El candidato por la coalición Juntos Haremos Historia, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, inició su campaña presidencial en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.
El primer mensaje de López Obrador fue relativo al nuevo aeropuerto: la cancelación de las obras en Texcoco y la construcción de dos pistas en la base aérea militar de Santa Lucía. Con ello, aseveró, se ahorrarán 200 mil millones de pesos.
Este primer mensaje lo dio en la plaza Benito Juárez de la ciudad fronteriza donde estuvo acompañado por su esposa Beatriz Gutiérrez, la coordinadora de campaña, Tatiana Clouthier, el ex jefe de Gobierno, Marcelo Ebrard, y su enlace con el sector empresarial, Alfonso Romo.
El motivo por el que eligieron esa locación fue el de hacer un homenaje a Benito Juárez.
